The Asia Young Designer Award was first launched in 2008, with the aim to inspire students to be more innovative, and motivate them to a higher degree of professionalism.
First launched in 2008, the Nippon Paint Young Designer Award (NPYDA) aims to inspire interior design and architectural students to apply creativity and innovation in the implementation of design.
Judged by reputable and well-established captains of the industry, NPYDA started off with just Malaysia and expanded to 11 othercountries in 2015 namely: Philippines, Singapore, Bangladesh, Thailand, Pakistan, Indonesia, Papua New Guinea, Vietnam, China, Japan, and Hong Kong. For the year 2016,NPYDA is stepping into a whole new level of competition by expanding its network to 15 countries and relaunching it as the Asia Young Designer Award (AYDA). This year, AYDAwill be extended to three additional countries, namely Sri Lanka, India and Taiwan.
AYDA is judged by renowned and well-established professionals in the industry and supported by professional societies and government bodies such as the United Architects of the Philippines (UAP), Council of Deans and Heads of Architecture Schools in the Philippines (CODHASP), Philippine Institute of Interior Designers (PIID), and Council of Interior Design Educators (CIDE).
